Who wants to hit Khalid Kasem? ‘Also recently that pawnbroker revelation…’

Why have the tapes leaked now in which Khalid Kasem confesses to bribing an official? Is someone looking for his downfall? “You also had that pawnbroker revelation the other day.”

Khalid Kasem seems to have lost everything in one fell swoop: not only his TV career, but also the possibility of ever returning to the legal profession. The revelations from the AD, which has very incriminating tapes in its hands, are so great that he immediately resigned as presenter of Khalid & Sophie. ‘Temporary’, but that rarely turns out to be the case…

Pawnbroker

Is anyone out for Khalid’s downfall? “A few weeks ago we also had all of Khalid’s houses suddenly come up,” notes Patty Brard in Shownieuws.

Patty points to the revelation that Khalid owns numerous properties in the capital, which he then rents out – for undoubtedly high sums. Are we dealing with an orchestrated attack on the presenter here? Is Patty right to mention the revelations about Khalid’s hidden real estate empire? Or is that completely separate from this?

What does Rob say?

It seems to be unrelated, because this revelation comes from Rob Vuurens, the journalist behind the well-known website BekendeBuren. There are regular scoops on celebrity real estate, and due to the rising popularity of Khalid Kasem, he has apparently also come under scrutiny.

It is of course possible that Rob was tipped off by someone. Someone who knows that it is not really comfortable that Khalid is a pawnbroker, while he works at the socialist BNNVARA. “I don’t think BNNVARA welcomes the fact that one of their presenters is a pawnbroker,” says Rob himself in the latest New Revu.

Left dicks

Rob just thinks it’s newsworthy. “A capitalist presenter at a socialist broadcaster, everyone is talking about it. In normal life it seems that Kasem is guilty of talking on the left, filling on the right. Of course, he will never get rid of that image. If you add them up, you get about eight buildings.”

These buildings are mainly in Amsterdam. “They have a total value of approximately 3 million euros. That may not sound like much for eight buildings in Amsterdam, but they are not mega-expensive buildings, more like apartments. They will be for rental.”

‘Nothing at all’

One thing is certain: Rob himself is not charmed by Khalid either. “As a TV presenter, I think he is a disaster fund. I don’t like it at all,” he says, even before the revelations about the presenter.

He concludes: “The Netherlands is not endowed with good talk show people at all. Apart from Jeroen Pauw and Sven Kockelmann, none of them can do it.”
