Who thought the indie from around 1990 has been forgotten, should listen to Horsegirl ★★★☆☆

Horsegirl – Versions of Modern Performance

The alternative guitar sector is dominated by post-punk and thus refers a lot back to the early eighties, but if you thought the indie of the 1990s has been forgotten, you should check it out. Versions of Modern Performance from Horsegirl listen.

On their debut album, the three young women from Chicago roll out a sample card on which the 40-plus alternative can point out countless cherished bands from yesteryear (from Dinosaur Jr to Pixies, from The Breeders to Belly). In the meantime, young people can also conclude without references that Horsegirl is a great new band with a cool guitar sound.

The album lasts just over half an hour, which does have lesser moments, but bounces often enough (Option 8) and both begins and ends with a climax. Anti Glory is the strong opener, Billy the closing track in which you hear a lot of Sonic Youth, only to read that Lee Ranaldo and Steve Shelley, ex-members of that band, play along.
