Who should be soccer world champion now?

By Florian Grove

Then there were only four … 28 teams have already said goodbye at this year’s World Cup in Qatar.

After the elimination of the DFB team and the highly valued Belgians in the preliminary round and the knockout round of co-favorite Spain, the favorites continued to die in the quarter-finals.

First, top favorite Brazil was kicked out. Then three European teams with title ambitions one after the other: Holland, Portugal and England.

But completely unexpected in the semifinals: the Moroccans – as the first African team in the history of the World Cup!

In the semi-finals, the North Africans will now face defending champions France. In the other duel for the final, Argentina and runner-up Croatia will face each other.

Who are you crossing your fingers for now?

Morocco remains the biggest outsider among the last four. The heart blood kickers remained CLEAR against Spain, Portugal and Croatia.

In Argentina everything is looking at one: Lionel Messi (35).

Does the superstar actually crown his sensational career with the biggest title in football – and is he always ahead of his permanent rival Cristiano Ronaldo (37) in the competition of the best of all time after his quarter-final exit?

Or will there actually be a repeat of the last World Cup final? In 2018, France defeated Croatia 4-2. But this year there are only very few players from both sides in the starting XI from both final teams.

For Croatian legend Luka Modric (37) it is also the last opportunity to finally memorialize himself with the World Cup title. But in the semi-final duel with Messi there can only be one in the end…

And France? If he triumphed again, young superstar Kylian Mbappé would already have his second world title in his showcase. Two days before his 24th (!) Birthday!
