Who needs rings when you have helmets? Two Ukrainian soldiers get married near Kiev

There was a veil, priest, two witnesses and even a coupeke afterwards. Lesia Ivashchenko and Valerii Fylymonov did not need more, even in wartime, to give each other the yes on Sunday. The fact that their motherland became a war zone and that they are on the front line as armed forces themselves was no reason for the two not to get married, even if it had to be at a checkpoint near Kiev – a bright spot in very dark times. At the supreme moment, no rings were exchanged, but the newlyweds were given… helmets on their heads. We can only hope they live happily ever after.
