Leopoldo Aizersztein is is argentinian behind “Guardian Of Lore“, the video game that mixes Latin American mythology with adventure, and that thanks to its success is now available for XBox, after having landed on PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Microsoft Windows, Mac OS and Nintendo Switch.
With a degree in Business Administration, he found that his second career as a Special Effects and 3D Animation Technician suited him better. “For as long as I can remember I was a big fan of technology and of the interactive worlds”, is analyzed. A path that led him to work fully in the development of video games, being a benchmark in the Latin American industry.
“I was in charge of the Systems area of a chain of cafeterias, which led me to found my own company of coffee machines for homes and offices, back in 2011. I was getting married and I wanted to be independent and manage my time “, recalls Aizersztein about his beginnings. “But after a few years I felt that I wasn’t proud or happy with what I was doing, and in 2013, when my son was born, it also seemed to me that changing was a good way to show him that you have to fight for your dreams. So, I decided to dedicate myself to what I really liked: developing video games“, reviews the key moment in which he decided to take the leap.
“I already knew some programming and on the Internet I found a program called Unity, one of the most used together with ‘Unreal’. That’s where I started learning, I’m self-taught, I did not study this formally. I started almost playing and soon after helping people who programmed. And by 2015 I tried to make my own game, well, let’s say it failed”, laughs the Argentine who did not give up. And through trial and error, he achieved success.
“The following year I decided to found what is now Round 2“, he reviews. “I noticed that after the boom that was ‘Hollow Knight’ it would be a good option to do it’Guardian Of Lore‘. So it was. We started development in 2019, but in March 2020 the pandemic came and everything was delayed for obvious reasons. In any case, by 2021 we had it finished and we presented it to society, with immediate success because it was quickly incorporated to play it on PC, first for Steam and then for the Epic Games Store,” the story continues. Aizersztein.
“From there it was all success, since we got a publisher that he was able to put the game on all the known successful platforms: Play Station, Nintendo and now, on Xbox”, celebrates the Argentine developer who found a new plot among fantasy games, based on Latin American mythology, contrasting with the Nordic and Germanic that dominates the genre, with dragons and elves.
“It arose from the trips I made around the continent, without a doubt, and how much I was learning and getting passionate about the local culture. At the age of 20 I did the Inca Trail and it was a real click. In Valle Sagrado there is a temple with stones from another valley that were brought there I don’t know how or why, something that caught my attention. I began to read a lot of Latin American mythology, and I realized that there is a lot of mythology from other places, so I found it interesting to transmit a little of ours“, defends Aizersztein who also has a streamer side.
“I started making videos showing how I played and then I started broadcasting live, and from my tenth video the number of views exploded, reaching almost 500 thousand in a short time. Basically I realized that I really liked streaming and that I wanted to dedicate myself largely to that, to making content. I plan to create a company that offers online content for different platforms in different languages and interests, with valuable people around the world,” he says about his next project.
“In other words, today things have evolved and the cinema, TV, radio, everything has changed and there are a number of people who are not in traditional media but who do other interesting things, with unique value and freedom. Ando I want to discover talents and work together, something international and uniqueand open a TV recording studio oriented to online streaming”, he enthuses. A path that will surely take him very far in the field.
