What was the process like moving so far from the city and deciding to start a business?
After a few months of fishing and hunting doing the Robinson Crusoe, I hired an agricultural engineer to help me develop the island for productive purposes. The project did not flourish, but the love did, which ended up being a beautiful family with twins and everything. The two and a half year old girls, the nap – which is torture for a person of capital – and a new spiritual search led me to look for something to do in the afternoon. At the same time, The decision to start a business was not easy: The current context of the country and the price of fabrics that continues to increase complicate development. I concluded that the best thing was to simply move forward and invest as soon as possible to get the project on track.
When did your love for sewing begin?
When I was 5 years old I locked myself in my grandmother Irene’s sewing room running away from my 2 older brothers. She taught me how to use the straight line, the riveter, backstitching and French sewing. Since good things are short-lived, she passed away when I was 8 years old and with her a thousand tricks of the trade died.
What makes their creations special is the commitment to sustainability. From this choice, it seeks to promote conscious and environmentally responsible fashion. His focus on the disruptive and his experience in cinema make his brand “Trapo” an innovative and promising proposal.
How did you meet again with your vocation as a seamstress?
Summer vacation was a turning point. Audiovisual production in a town is a difficult concept to exploit. I had to find something that makes me fall in love again, that motivates me. Walking along the beach Cape Polonio, we and the girls unearthed what appeared to be a swimsuit buried in the sand. It was an ordinary grid. I came back and continued thinking about that cloth and everything closed when Angela, who ended up being my teacher, announced that she was giving cutting and sewing courses. I had to get back to that old love, hobby or whatever you like to call it.
What is the garment you like to make the most and why?
I think the garment that I like to make the most is the long sleeve sweater, although it is also the most difficult. I am very detail-oriented and I am looking to make something comfortable with realistic notes and bright colors to face the summer. Right now I’m finishing a pair of pants that I hope will keep everyone else up at night, just as creating them has fascinated me.
