Summer time is bath time! It’s good when children learn to swim in good time. Since 2015, Lichtenberg’s five to twelve-year-olds have been able to do the seahorse while swimming on holiday.
At the beginning, district councilors volunteered to teach the little ones how to swim.
The district office has been financing the campaign since 2019 and swimming clubs are supposed to take care of the lessons. But that is exactly what is failing this year, after holiday swimming has been canceled for the past two years due to Corona.
“There is a need to catch up, but there is a lack of staff,” says Lichtenberg’s left-wing faction leader Norman Wolf (42). “We are urgently looking for clubs to take over the course.”
Lessons take place during the vacation weeks in the mornings at the summer pool in Wuhlheide on Treskowallee, with ten to twelve children learning to swim in two rounds.
