A column of Italian industry leaves, a man close to Atalanta and for some years also in the world of professional cycling. Domenico Bosatelli was 88 years old and until 2020 he had been president of Gewiss, a production company of electrical material and equipment with branches in four continents. For half a century he had been the number 1 of the hugely successful company, only to leave the throne to his son in 2020.

Today the name of Gewiss is known in football for being the sponsor that gives its name to the Atalanta stadium, the former Atleti Azzurri d’Italia, which is a bit like that of his city, having been born in Alzano Lombardo and having the company’s headquarters in Cenate Sotto, two municipalities in the Orobic province. Bosatelli’s relationship with cycling dates back to two professional teams, between the end of the 80s and the first half of the 90s. The electrotechnical company had sponsored Gewiss-Bianchi between 1987 and 1989, while in 1994 it started a new adventure on the world circuit like Gewiss-Ballan, which became Gewiss-Playbus in 1996.
