Martino Piccione (Beppe Fiorello) is a very good and ambitious guitarist. He is 48 years old and tired of being relegated to the role of simple supporter of famous singers. After an exciting tour with Young people he returns to his town, Ginosa, a delightful center of the Taranto Murgia, inhabited by (from his point of view) old-fashioned and somewhat rough people.
Martino finds his mother Natuzza (Mariolina De Fano) and all the old friends and acquaintances who, however, make fun of him for his work. They think it’s a hobby, they don’t understand his creative vein and its modern and free spirit. Martino also takes the hit of being dumped by his girlfriend. Angry, he wants to make a change in his life. Noticing the popularity of missing persons programs, he comes up with the ingenious idea of faking his own disappearance.
To support him in this absurd enterprise is Peppino Quaglia (Pierfrancesco Favino), scoundrel, idler who spends his time parked with the Ape in the village square. Peppino, in his own way, assists and supports Martino in his pursuit of fame. But the story takes unexpected paths and laughs are guaranteed.

Who saw me: a true Apulian story
Set in Puglia, the film was shot between Ginosa, Bari, Mottola, Castellaneta and Conversano. It stages all the harshness and wild beauty of those places, almost impervious to modern changes, where time seems to pass slowly.
The story that is told is inspired by a true story. Beppe Fiorello himself explained it who, in addition to being an actor, also signed the subject of the film. «I was inspired by a real story», he explained, «that of a talented guitarist from Puglia who, tired of being in the back of the stage, wanted to take inspiration from programs on missing persons to organize his disappearance. A Pirandello idea: to disappear in order to appear».
