The NPO 1 hit Wie is de Mol is normally praised incessantly, but not everyone is a fan. In fact: Op1 star Thomas van Groningen puked on the celebrity show. “So silly!”
Thomas van Groningen, the political reporter for Op1, thinks Wie is de Mol is a really terrible programme. They never have to call him to participate, he says in the podcast ThemeTalk. “I dropped out of Wie is de Mol. Now fans might get angry. I wouldn’t have participated anyway. I think it is a very stupid game.”
Stupid program
Viewers are wasting their time with Who is the Mole, Thomas thinks. “There is no way, as a participant or as a viewer, to find out who that Mole is. You’re just watching ten episodes of roulette. It’s gambling, because you can’t know. They give zero hints, zero information about that Mole.”
He continues: “There was recently such a game in such a stadium with those signs. Yes, I don’t even know what the outcome should have been, so I don’t know who messed around. What a stupid program!”
‘Does not make any sense’
According to Thomas, it is also very poorly made. “It doesn’t make any sense at all. And in 2004 it was probably a very hip, beautiful program, but now, that design with those titles and so on… That is really from Mission: Impossible 2004, with that green layer as if it were The Matrix. It is design from the year 0. What a nostalgic TV experience.”
He concludes: “It’s edited as if I’m watching the first Spy Kids movie. What kind of program is this? Why do people like this so much? I do not get it at all.”
