Last week, in “La escondida” in Palermo, the head of the Buenos Aires Government, Horacio Rodriguez Larretabrought together 150 candidates and referents from 22 provinces from all over the country for a photo that was their show of strength. One that signed his presidential ambition, although he himself insisted that “it is not the time to talk about candidacies.”
Among a large grove in the event hall near Geba, Rodríguez Larreta nevertheless defined who his candidates will be to fight the election in the interior of the country: as part of the strategy there were neither Buenos Aires nor Buenos Aires, in a group curated by the deputy from Mendoza Omar de Marchi, a falcon that passed into the ranks of the porteño as a federal shipowner.
In that list stood out the names of Roger Frigerioand senator louis judge, winners in 2021 and leaders in the group of pre-candidates for governors: the senator from Chubut, Ignacio “Nacho” Torres; German Alfaro, from Tucuman; the deputy and former San Luis governor, Claudio Pogi; and the Pampas Martin Maquieyra.
Roger Frigerio
The national deputy for Entre Ríos reached Congress with 54% of the votes. After closing his cycle as Minister of the Interior faced with Mauricio Macri, who criticized him in his book “Primer tiempo”, Frigerio set up a consultancy with Emilio Monzo while demanding more opening of the space towards other sectors, something that happened in 2021 with new figures (the notorious case is that of Facundo Manes, who was accompanied by Monzó on the list) and Together for Change won the election. “Now the way is forward, the interns in Together for Change are useless, they are functional to Kirchnerism”, he insisted in the summer in an interview with NOTICIAS. He has a chance to be governor and tip the territorial balance.
Louis Judge
The national senator for Córdoba achieved a landslide win in 2021: 55% of the votes. He has his misgivings about Mauricio Macri because he postponed it in the internship with Mario Negri and other Cordovans before. Today he has the support of Rodríguez Larreta, who two weeks ago accompanied him on a tour of the province. Larretismo seeks to give an image of “hyper federalism” and a victory in Cordoba, cutting the cycle of 25 years of Peronism in power, is a big step in that direction. But Macri believes that it must be defined internally, and criticizes the PRO from Cordoba for lining up behind Judge “because it measures”.
German Alfaro
The intendant of San Miguel de Tucuman It is the great card of the armed Together for Change to fight in the province and break the cycle of Juan Manzur, who would be a candidate again. “Manzur should make a mea culpa of why he was the most useless governor of the last decades for the people of Tucumán”, Alfaro questioned the current chief of staff. The provincial capital concentrates more than 90% of the electorate, so the chances are for the mayor, who also has his wife, Beatrice Avila, as a national senator. Her rival internally is Roberto Sánchez, the national deputy for the UCR, but a binomial could be formed. There have already been meetings with the head of the national UCR, Gerardo Moralesin that sense.
Nacho Torres
The national senator from Chubut is 34 years old and won by 10 points in 2021. He appears as one of the letters of the renewal of Together for Change, and is part of the Bicameral commission that monitors the security and intelligence agencies chaired by Leopoldo Moreau. But these days he is involved in a scandal: Nicholas Gabriel Carrizopresumed leader of “La banda de los copitos” is defended by Gaston Maranoa criminal who was his adviser: he was relieved, “he is no more”, they insist on the PRO. “He is a lawyer with a very high profile, who has intervened in important cases. This was a crude operation, of so many that there were, which has already been dismissed,” added Torres.
Martin Maquieyra
The national deputy for La Pampa got 49% in the elections and is the chosen one to fight the province. “We are working together with all Together on why we want to govern La Pampa, on what are the action plans, on how to improve health, education and safety. I am not thinking about candidacies right now, the time will come next year to define it, preparation motivates me more,” Maquieyra told El Disparador (Delta 90.3). “La Pampa was the productive heart of Argentina, it is a prosperous province where you could live safely. Which I think is the only thing that remains, although we see crimes that we did not see before. Unfortunately we have the direction of our country”, complained the pampas candidate blessed by Rodriguez Larretawho in the meeting in “La Escondida” said: “We are going to fight to win La Pampa, to win in each of the provinces, in each municipality and in each corner of Argentina.”
