WHO announces 6 first African countries to be allowed to produce patent-free mRNA vaccines

Egypt, Kenya, Nigeria, Senegal, South Africa and Tunisia are the first six African countries to be allowed to produce patent-free mRNA vaccines via the ‘tech transfer hub’. This was announced by Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus of the World Health Organization (WHO) on the sidelines of the two-day African-European summit in Brussels.
