The tribute to the 45 years of struggle of the Association of the Grandmothers of Plaza de Mayo is the reason for the artistic presentation to be held at the Borges Cultural Center. The meeting will take place on Friday, October 14, in the Buenos Aires space, located at Viamonte 525, with free admission.
At the opening of the event, an installation of white scarves intervened by renowned local artists will be presented: Luis Felipe Noé, Diana Dowek, Marta Minujín, Marcia Schvartz, Miguel Rep, Mariela Scafati, Irene Banchero, Tulio de Sagastizábal, Marcelo Brodsky, Marcela Astorga and Roberto Jacobyamong many others.
To the proposal is added the participation of the musical group Sacrum, which will be presented at 7:00 p.m. Astor Piazzolla Auditorium to give the attending public a night full of jazz and swing. The collective intervention of the handkerchiefs and the concert are part of a series of artistic events in homage to the Grandmothers of Plaza de Mayo that the Ministry of Culture of the Nation will be running for the entire month of October.
The Sacrum jazz group is made up of Thomas Sainz on battery, Martin Varela on electric bass and Javier Burin Heras on keyboards. His repertoire, almost entirely, is made up of original music and offers a journey through different subgenres of jazz: groove, fusion and swing. “As its name indicates, it transcends the limits of what is thought, of what is defined and of what is reasonable, in order to reach a new and still unexplored layer, almost sacred”, defines the musical band.
The entity’s anniversary is an example of worldwide recognized commitment in the fight for the truth. International artists and world leaders participated in the recognition of the organization’s unwavering struggle over the decades. The mission has resulted, to date, in 130 granddaughters and grandsons having regained their identity. However, it is estimated that there are still more than 300 people to find and who can learn about its history and origins.
