Will it happen again, a new season of Joling & Gordon? According to Shownieuws, there are rumors that yes, but there is one party that firmly denies it.
It was a hit on television for years: Joling & Gordon on the floor, the program in which Gerard Joling and Gordon visit all kinds of companies and organizations. The gentlemen worked together on television for years, until Goor switched to SBS 6 and Geer stayed behind at RTL. After that there was really only arguing.
TV reunion?
Now that Gordon is almost transfer-free – his contract with Talpa expires in six days – it is said Show news whispers again about a TV comeback of the duo Geer and Goor. Only Gordon has something to gain from this; his image is in ruins and he could then benefit from Gerard’s popularity. But for Geer there is a risk of breakdown.
Show expert Bart Ettekoven says: “I think it was sparked by Gooische Vrouwen and then De Bauers got over that. Before De Bauers came out, I also heard in the corridors that it might happen that these two would make television together again.”
‘Would be surprised’
Bart doesn’t see it happening very quickly. “I would be surprised if this duo came together again, because I spoke to Gerard a number of times and he said quite clearly: ‘I’m not going to do that anymore.’ (…) There has always been a bit of thunder and buzz during the recording of these types of series.”
He continues: “On screen it was laughing, screeching, roaring, but behind the scenes it was also a very big drama every now and then. I know this because Gerard also presented Shownieuws at the same time and we had to deal with him here every day. Then Gordon would have canceled again at the last minute.”
‘Always a hassle’
If Gordon canceled, it would have dramatic consequences for Gerard, Bart explains. “Then Gerard had to do another recording of Over De Vloer and then three performances in the evening in the country, because Gordon had canceled his call on his day off. There was all that kind of stuff.”
What do the parties involved say? “Talpa says: ‘There is no question of this yet.’ RTL and Videoland say that they cannot say anything meaningful about it yet, but do not deny it. We called Gerard’s management and they said: ‘Totally nonsense.’ That sounds very negative.”
Five minutes
Gordon’s manager remains more on the plain. “And then I also called Nathalie, Gordon’s manager, and she said: ‘Can I call you back in five minutes?’ Then she called back and said, “We don’t know anything about that yet.” So she had to think about that for a moment. I thought: oh, will it happen again?”
What does this say? “I don’t think there are any signatures yet, but people may be fantasizing about it out loud.”
Very quiet
Patty Brard, who has a love-hate relationship with Gordon: “They are entertainers, both of them, so if the right amount is offered in return, they will turn on that laughing machine again. Ultimately, their hearts are in the right place. In the end I say, huh? Gerard anyway and Gordon… Has actually been very quiet lately. Did you ask the manager about that?”
Bart: “She has him under control well. He is now in Dubai. Of course he was in Amsterdam for a while, but he is happy there. He’s fine with it, I think, at the moment. I find it remarkably quiet.”
Patty: “Exactly. I think this is the calm before the storm.”
