Bob Dylan has sold his villa in the Scottish Highlands for the equivalent of 4.9 million euros. The property, also known as Aultmore House, is located in the vast Cairngorms National Park and came onto the market in July 2023 with a starting bid of €3.4 million.
The house had been in Dylan’s possession since 2006. He and his brother reportedly bought it for three million euros. Until recently, his siblings used the villa for a few weeks a year, but have now decided to sell it. “The Times“ reported that the siblings no longer have any use for the villa.
Whiskey company acquires Scottish villa
The new owner of the property is Angus Dundee Distillery, according to documents filed with Mansion Global. The company produces a range of single malt, blended and deluxe Scotch whiskies. It has two distilleries, both of which are located in Scotland. One of them is also in the Cairngorms National Park. So far there has been no comment on the purchase.
The three-story, 16-bedroom property, which was built in the early 1900s, has one, according to the agent listing “excellent views south across Abernathy Forest to the Cairngorm Mountains”. With an 18,000 square meter mansion, a 24 hectare estate and three cottages, the villa has a lot to offer.
Dylan’s love of the Highlands
In his song “Highlands” from 1997, the singer made his love for the Scottish Highlands clear. He sang:“My heart’s in The Highlands, gentle and fair/Honeysuckle blooming in the wildwood air/Bluebells blaze where the Aberdeen waters flow.”
