The 1. FC Köln presented the eighth access with Kristoffer Lund. Meanwhile, Steffen Tigges is standing in front of a departure. This is what the other transfer planning looks like.
Kristoffer Lund’s first day at 1st FC Köln started with an early shift. Shortly before 8 a.m., the left-back drove at the MediaPark Clinic to go through his medical check. After the orthopedic and cardiological examinations by the team doctors, Lund continued to the Geißbockheim, where he put his signature under a contract that was initially applicable for a season.
The seven-time American national player with Danish roots changes on loan from Palermo to Cologne, whereby the “billy goats” have a purchase option for the summer of 2026 and can thus secure Lund’s services permanently. “Kristoffer brings exactly the profile that we want for the left outer track,” said sports director Thomas Kessler when the transfer officially announced on Tuesday afternoon.
“He combines defensive stability with an offensive train to the front and convinces with a mentality that ideally complemented our requirements for this position,” added Kessler and was therefore convinced: “With his obligation, we specifically increase the quality and competition in the left -back position – this is an important component in our squad structure.”
Lund himself said after his signature at FC: “Cologne plays in the Bundesliga, which is one of the best play classes in Europe. I feel ready for that and would like to prove myself here – that’s why I chose FC.” The 23-year-old joined team training on Tuesday afternoon.
Lund comes from the youth of the four -time Danish master FC Midtjylland. In 2023 he had landed with the Italian second division club Palermo about the Esbjerg and BK Häcken stations and has become a regular force in series B in the past two years. The full -back in Cologne now wants to go in the Bundesliga in Cologne.
The negotiations between FC and Palermo were considered failed two weeks ago. After the “billy goats” had made an offer for Lund, the Italians were suddenly no longer available. However, Kessler stayed persistent, and the Cologne sports director managed to talk about Manchester City and FC Palermo, but a breakthrough in discussions with the City Football Group.
After the presentation of Lund, the eighth newcomer of this summer, the Cologne transfer efforts are far from at the end. With Galatasaray Istanbul Derrick Köhn, another left -back is on the wish list that the FC could restart on this outer lane.
“Basically, just like others who are traded, he was an interesting boy,” coach Lukas Kwasniok had confirmed after the recent friendly against Vitesse Arnheim (7: 4), but left open the outcome of the Poker: “Obviously it is not yet. Maybe it will never be so far, but maybe something happens in the background.” Kwasniok’s recommendation was therefore: “Let yourself be surprised!”
