The women’s handball Bundesliga reacted to the impending from the insolvent master HB Ludwigsburg and modified the Supercup on August 23. Instead of Ludwigsburg, European League winner Thuringian HC now meets runner-up HSG Blomberg-Lippe in Munich.
“Due to the existing uncertainty about the participation of the HB Ludwigsburg, the board had to make this decision to ensure the implementation of the Super Cup game. Organizational constraints and existing obligations towards our partners leave us no other choice at this time,” said HBF managing director Christoph Wendt.
On Monday evening, the insolvent club announced that the economic basis was missing in order to continue to bind the players to their existing contracts. It is unclear whether and with which team Ludwigsburg goes into the season.
