The Longlegs Explorers are among the toughest Automaton enemies in Helldivers 2: here we explain how you can eliminate them and where they hide.
Finding Longlegs Scouts in Helldivers 2 is a bit difficult if you’re new to the multiplayer game, and killing them is even more difficult. While you don’t have to complete this particular daily order, the extra medals are worth it if you have the patience to do so.
Our guide to the Longlegs Explorers of Helldivers 2 will explain where to find them and how to eliminate them.

Where to find Longlegs Scouts —
Longlegs Scouts are automaton enemies, so they only live in systems controlled by automatons. You will not find them in the Terminidi area. The galaxy map marks the automata’s territories in red, and in our experience, any planet or mission under the automata’s control has the same set of enemies.
What makes the difference is the difficulty of the chosen mission. Longlegs only start appearing on medium difficulty and then in all missions on higher difficulty. If you’re just starting Helldivers 2, you’ll have to complete a difficulty mission on each of the lower difficulties to unlock Medium difficulty, and it takes about 30 minutes if you don’t spend time exploring.
The daily order dedicated to the Longlegs had required defeating 20 specimens. While it’s possible to have at least one or two guaranteed at a mission’s extraction point, check the bases and optional objective points to find more.
Helldivers 2: how to kill Longlegs Scouts —
Defeating the Longlegs Scouts takes a bit of strategy. They are heavily armored enemies and, unlike chainsaw-wielding robots, no shots from normal weapons can pierce their faceplates. Some missions feature tank cannons that can be used to fire rockets at them, destroying them instantly.
If you don’t have an anti-tank gun, you will have to attack them from behind or use your creativity. The Orbital Strike stratagem causes a Longlegs Scout to explode on impact, and if you can position it correctly, you can use the Incendiary Minefield stratagem to do the same thing. This method is a little more dangerous, as you will have to lure him into the minefield.
If all else fails, throw a grenade near a Longlegs Scout and let it do its job. These enemies don’t move quickly, so they’re less likely to escape a grenade than the average robot.
