Max Verstappen posted a hard top time in the third free practice of the French GP.

The World Series leading Red Bull driver was three and a half tenths second fastest than Ferrari Carlos Sainz smarter. All the best lap times were set on the soft tire compound, so Verstappen’s wild lap cannot be beaten with a tire choice.

Verstappen’s pace is bad news for Ferrari. Based on yesterday’s free practice, the Maranello troops seemed to be faster in the qualifying, Red Bull long stretches. Now Härkälauma is neck and neck in both.

Sainz’s pass at the back of the pack at the start of Sunday’s race also creates job mail for Ferrari. The Spaniard’s car will be replaced with a new power source. Haasin experiences the same fate Kevin Magnussen.

Valtteri Bottas was the 14th of the exercises. Alfa Romeo’s Finn was his team mate again Guanyu Zhouy faster.

Qualifying for the French GP starts at 17:00 Finnish time. Iltalehti follows the session live as usual.
