The North Germans are currently in crisis in the promotion race – and are now said to have parted ways with coach Tim Walter. A report now names five possible successors.
Three defeats from the last six games, two dramatic 3-4 defeats, the fall to third place in relegation – Hamburger SV simply cannot calm down at the moment. The prospect of returning to the Bundesliga currently seems to be at risk once again for the second division club.
It was only on Friday that the “Rothosen” lost 3-4 in a wild game against pursuers Hannover 96 and are now only third in the 2nd league. Not enough for the demands of HSV, which has been fighting in vain for years to return to the top German league.
HSV sports director Jonas Boldt made it clear after the game on Sky: “We have to fundamentally question the way we work.” And further: “Of course a coach plays a very important role.”
Trainers with special qualities wanted
There are big names that are apparently being traded at HSV – and all five have already been promoted to the Bundesliga in their coaching careers: According to “Bild”, former Cologne coach Steffen Baumgart is said to be on the list, as is ex-Union coach Urs Fischer .
While Baumgart represents an intense, aggressive style of play, Fischer is valued by the Hamburg team for his tactically disciplined football and controlled defense, according to “Bild”.
Stefan Kuntz is also one of Hamburg’s candidates – the former successful coach of the German U21 was last fired as Turkey’s national coach last September. Kuntz’s big plus is his interaction with his players and his emotional nature.
