★★ 1/2 Ironically, a new installment of a female geriatric comedy. No, please: let no one think that we are against it or that it bothers us or something like that. Nor is there any contempt for the girls (competent Keaton, Fonda, Bergen and Steenburgen, who do this with a taco and without disheveled), here on a fun trip through Europe, with the usual jokes about cultural differences, the appearance of one or several mature gallants (also very competent people like Johnson or -standing up- Giannini), more secrets and sad moments that, in the end, are resolved in a friendly way. But these kinds of movies have problems. One is to go through the performances of these people as if they were museum pieces that we approach with a smile and a bow. But it is the least important. The most complex is “nothing has happened here”, not even time. Beyond some irony regarding old age, which is inevitable, the intention is that things remain unchanged. And yes, in the movies, Humphrey Bogart is still alive and young. But when the movie revolves around the issue itself, things are a bit different. The ability of the interpreters prevents us from feeling ashamed (other people) for the precariousness of the script, and they all behave with kindness.
