Daniel Sikorski played with Bayern Munich’s second team and made important acquaintances such as Thomas Müller and Luca Toni. And he has at least … special memories of both world champions!
Daniel Sikorski is not exactly a famous name in world football. Austrian striker of Polish origin, Sikorski currently attends the Cypriot championship with the shirt of Aris Limassol and at most has collected some presence in the Under-21 of his country. But when he was young, he was considered a promise of Central European football. That’s why, as often happens, Bayern Munich had moved on him. The Bavarians brought him to Germany from St. Polten and sent him to the second team to gain experience. He never made his debut with the greats of him and in the end he began his very personal tour of Europe in leagues and smaller teams, but on the other hand he made important acquaintances.
One of his dressing room mates in Bayern Munich II was in fact … a certain Thomas Müller, who between 2007 and 2009 tested himself in team B before breaking through among the greats and winning as a protagonist (among other things ) two Champions League and a World Cup with Germany. What is Sikorski’s opinion of the 2014 world champion, with whom he is still in contact? Excellent: “he is always the same Thomas, he likes to joke and he has never changed. He is one of the most underrated players in the world.” But the episode that will remain forever etched in his memory is not one that Müller will remember too willingly. Some time ago the Austrian in fact told a SPOX And Goal when, during a trip to India, the German had a bad time after a not very light dinner.
“Bayern had a partnership with an orphanage to which we brought clothes. Then we stopped near the Himalayas. We stayed in a hotel that had no mattresses, slept on wooden planks. The showers were with buckets of water and for dinner there were chips and Coke which appeared to have been there since 1953. So we went to eat somewhere else and Thomas almost poisoned himself. The menu said the dish was not spicy, but it was absolutely not so and Thomas didn’t notice right away. The next day he spent it in the bathroom instead of working out. ” In addition to Müller, Sikorski met another world champion forward: Luca Toni. And there are other pleasant memories: “I was eating in a restaurant with a friend and Toni was also a few tables away. At the end of dinner I wanted to go and pay, but Luca comes to me and says ‘don’t worry, I’ll offer’. Bayern is like that, it’s like a family and even those who leave are always one of them. ” And Müller is always the same too. But maybe now taste the food before eating with gusto …
