Käärijä’s fans made new versions of the famous performance outfit for the viuse representative.
Finland’s Eurovision representative Käärijä found herself in an unpleasant situation on Saturday, when her already famous performance outfit, a green muscle bolero, went missing at Malmi in Helsinki. According to Käärijä, the outfit had fallen out of the car’s tailgate.
The outfit was found a little later on the highway in Malmi, but it didn’t make it to Käärijä’s Saturday night gig in Kuopio.
The wrapper asked his social media followers for help, so that viewers could bring him alternative performance outfits for the evening’s gig. The social media announcement became a direct phenomenon, because according to the information received by Iltalehti, viewers brought Käärjiä up to seven different performance outfits, all of which strongly resembled the muscle outfit familiar from UMK.
A yellow dream
The people of Kuopio were notified by the wrapper Taru Revon and Vilma Lankinen to get really excited, because the duo decided to make an outfit for the Finnish artist with their own hands.
– When I noticed Käärijä’s stories that if the people who came to the gig could bring him a top, I immediately shared it with Vilma and she immediately got excited. We decided at the same time that we would make the outfit ourselves.
Vilma took her sewing machine to Taru and various fabrics, and the two began to sew an outfit suitable for Käärijä.
– Käärijä has always performed in yellow in the past, and when Vilma had yellow fabric, we decided to make an outfit out of it. For the leather stuff, we split the leg of the leather pants, says Taru.
A video of the outfit’s completion process can be seen at the beginning of the article.
– We did it at a fairly close pace early on, and it took a couple of hours. We first made a mini version and then drew the patterns on baking paper before starting to make the final version. We hadn’t made any outfits together before.

The crowd’s favorite costume
At the gig itself, Käärijä would put on all the outfits brought to the venue one at a time, and at the end of the gig the best outfit was decided by a voice vote. To Taru and Vilma’s surprise, their outfit won the vote.
– The wrapper announced after the vote that he wants to keep all the outfits himself, if possible. It’s exciting to see if the outfit we made would even make it to Liverpool and Eurovision, says Taru.
Taru says that he strongly believes in Finland’s victory in Eurovision.
– Yes, it will be the 2024 Eurovision Song Contest in Helsinki. It’s such a distinctive song and looks very Finnish.
