Less than 48 hours after the arduous opening victory in the European Cup over Saint-Raphael (32:30), the Flensburg team played against the Thuringians like they were unleashed in the first 20 minutes and quickly opened up an eight-goal lead.

It was a fireworks display that was partly reminiscent of the extremely strong second half in the state derby against THW Kiel (36:34). The SG, for whom Marko Grgic showed a good performance on his return to Eisenach, deservedly won their seventh league win in a row after a convincing, fighting performance during the game.

On Tuesday the European League goes to Spain to Bidasoa Irun (8.45 p.m.), in the Bundesliga on October 26th (6 p.m.) HC Erlangen is a guest in the Campus Hall.

Flensburg’s game started too quickly for Eisenach

Five minutes, five goals: Unlike on Tuesday against Saint-Raphael, the Pajovic team was immediately there not only physically, but above all mentally (5:2). Even though Eisenach gradually got into the game a little better, SG left winger Emil Jakobsen in particular left his mark on the game at the beginning with four quick goals.

He scored from seven meters to make it 8:5, before Grgic scored his first goal on his return to Eisenach and Johannes Golla scored Flensburg’s ninth and tenth goals after wonderful passes to the circle. High tempo, strong running routes, consistent finishes – the SG game was simply too fast for ThSV at times. And that applied equally to retreat and cover. The Schleswig-Holstein team repeatedly provoked offensive fouls from the hosts by quickly moving the ball.

Grgic with six goals in the first half

Grgic made it 13:8 (14th) with two throws into the empty goal – and the returnee also scored the 15th (15:9, 16th) and the 20th Flensburg goal (20:12, 24th). What was already a high-scoring first half at this point was expanded into a goal-scoring spectacle in the remaining six minutes until halftime. Because the SG suddenly completely lost the thread – and the Thuringians smelled morning air. With an 8:3 run, they reduced the guests’ previously comfortable lead to three goals.

Pajovic responded in the second half with a change in goal, Benjamin Buric came on for derby hero Kevin Möller. He also played seven-on-six in attack. Two measures that brought success in the first minutes after the restart: The lead grew again – 25:20 (34th).

Eisenach is fighting hard, but the SG is putting a lid on it

However, Eisenach did not allow themselves to be discouraged and thanks to Moritz Ende they got back to three goals (27:30, 48th minute), Peter Walz even got within two goals (29:31, 51st minute) with a sensational shot. As fast-paced as the game had been in the first half, it was now very competitive.

But the SG was able to do that too, countered with two quick goals (33:29, 52nd) and brought the lead to the finish thanks to further Grgic goals.
