Dr. Phil’s 20-year run on television is coming to an end. The history of the television doctor as well as the program has some strange twists and turns.

Iltalehti previously reported how the popular American talk show Dr. Phil will be discontinued. Hosted by psychologist Phil McGraw, the show has been on TV for 20 years.
The decades also include numerous cases that McGraw has solved in front of television cameras. The behavioral problems of whiny teenagers, the ending of relationships and the mutual problems of people have been solved, which have been the most remarkable of each other.
Scandal
In time, a scandal arose in which it was suspected that Dr. Phil was working without an official doctor’s or psychotherapist’s license. He was even complained to the local psychological board, which investigated the matter.
It turned out that McGraw was indeed working without a license: the man had previously had a medical license in the state of Texas, but it was not legally binding for years. In California, where his show is filmed, the man, on the other hand, has never had a medical license.

At the request of the pop star’s parents, the man had visited the nursing facility where he was being treated. Britney’s parents knew Dr. Phil’s wife Robin and sought help from a psychologist.

However, the plans fell through, as McGraw tried to get the entire pop star’s family to publicly intervene on his show. In the end, both Spears’ family and health professionals condemned the proposal as a topa box.
Afterwards, Dr. Phil was also accused of breaching his duty of confidentiality, as he spoke about Spears’ private affairs to the public after visiting the hospital and learning sensitive information about the star’s health.
McGraw himself did not regret his revelations, but considered his speeches justified.
– Someone has to step forward and offer this young woman the best possible care. I don’t apologize for my words, and I don’t regret them for a moment, not even a single second.

Sad fates
The history of the Dr. Phil program contains plenty of cases that have talked about people all over the world. In the eyes of a Finnish television viewer, the appearance of some of the visitors on television could be generally classified as questionable.
One of the guests said she was expecting a baby Jesus, even though she wasn’t actually pregnant. The woman did not believe the health professionals and firmly insisted that she was still expecting a baby. She underwent an ultrasound examination on Dr. Phil’s broadcast, which however revealed that the woman’s uterus was empty.
A few guests have also suffered from the negative publicity brought by the program.
Known as a rapper Danielle Bregoli was originally introduced to Dr. Phil in 2016.
When Bregoli participated in the program, she was a 13-year-old teenager whose mother thought her child’s behavior was reckless and dangerous. Bregoli had, among other things, stolen cars and stolen money from her mother’s credit card without permission. The teenage girl is remembered for her defiant phrase: “cash me outside, how about that?”
Bregoli has later criticized how she was portrayed on the show and what happened after filming.
A truant teenager was sent to rural Utah, where he was met by a placement for misbehaving youths. Bergoli has subsequently described the conditions of the place as creepy.

He tells how he was once punished by making him sit in a teepee tent for three days. He was not allowed to sleep or take care of his hygiene.

The tweet was infuriating
Dr. Phil has also angered people with his inappropriate tweets. In 2013, he posted an inappropriate poll on Twitter.
– If a girl is drunk, is it ok to have sex with her? Answer yes or no.
The post was quickly removed, and according to the television psychologist’s representative, the question was meant to spark a discussion before a serious episode of Dr. Phil.
In the opinion of many, the writing was interpreted as a joke with sexual violence, and as an understatement of the definition of rape.
McGraw has also had to answer for his words and actions in court on a few occasions. One of the cases was an argument with a family friend about how Dr. Phil’s dog bit a woman on the leg.
Phil did not take his friend to the hospital because he wanted to avoid negative publicity. Due to the inadequate treatment caused by the bite, the family member was left with permanent injuries.
