The podcast The Disappearance of Nuseiba Hasan is about a Jordanian-Canadian woman who disappeared without a trace in 2006. True crime is a popular genre and there’s a lot of crap being made in this category too, but this podcast is well worth checking out because the journalistic sleuthing is extraordinary. Investigative journalist Habiba Nosheen worked on the story for three years and she manages to speak to acquaintances of Nuseiba Hasan who do not appear in any police file. In her quest to find out what happened to Nuseiba, she also encounters people who want the truth to remain hidden. The final episode shows how fragile family structures are and why family secrets are so often swept under the rug.
