The new ‘companion mode’ function will allow two smartphones to be linked
At the moment it is available in the beta of Android systems
instant messaging company WhatsApp has started testing in its beta version to implement the new ‘buddy mode’ featurewith which you can link two mobile phones so that it is used the same account on both devices at the same time.
As reported by WABetaInfo, the trial period of the ‘companion mode’ is available for Android systems and it is rolling out thanks to update 2.22.24.18 with an option that appears for some users when they try to link WhatsApp account.
The steps to follow to be able to link two ‘smartphones’ and activate this function is similar to the process for WhatsApp Web. In the additional device, click on the option ‘Link a device’ in the options menu that appears on the phone number entry screen to login.
Once this option has been chosen, the screen will display a QR code what will have to scan from primary mobile device to link the WhatsApp account. The account will automatically be started on both phones, allowing it to be used interchangeably on both terminals.
In addition, in the same way as on PC, it is not necessary to operate with the mobile connected, since the ‘companion mode’ allows to use from account on both phones independently. Still when used on the other phone all chat will be synced.

On the other hand, WhatsApp allows you to link an account on up to four devices at the same time, so more than two mobiles could be linked to a single profile. Likewise, end-to-end encryption has also been maintained in this ‘companion mode’, so that messages or calls continue to keep that privacy.
This new function offered by the instant messaging company comes after the launch of a version that also allows you to use the same WhatsApp account on your mobile and on a tablet thanks to the WhatsApp beta update for Android 2.22.21.16.
