Whatsapp users in India can now do grocery shopping directly through Whatsapp. It is enough for the user to write “Hello” to a certain number that leads to the purchase portal.

WhatsApp’s parent company Meta announced of cooperation with the JioMart chain on Monday. The user interface is very similar to the user interfaces of already existing food and shopping ordering services.

This is a significant step for Metal, which can show the direction of Whatsapp also in Europe and other parts of the world. CEO of Meta Mark Zuckerberg told in his Facebook publication how the company sees business communication as a really important part of its services, which is no wonder, because here Zuckerberg certainly smells money.

– Business communication is an area where a lot of movement can be observed, and such chat-based experiences will be the most common way for people and companies to communicate with each other in the coming years, Zuckerberg wrote.

What Meta clearly wants to do is to make Whatsapp its own version of the Chinese WeChat super app that combines practically everything a user needs. WeChat can be used for almost anything, from ordering food to ordering concert tickets. The profits of such a giant application are gigantic.

Challenging WeChat still has a long way to go, but it’s no small feat, because Whatsapp has over two billion users. India is indeed a good market for Whatsapp, as the application has around 400 million users there.
