WhatsApp has had a status function for a long time. This allows users to share a photo, video, GIF or similar with their contacts for 24 hours. The news service is currently planning some innovations for the status. Other relevant updates are also pending.
Almost every relevant news service has a story function. So does WhatsApp, where she calls herself “Status”. Now it has been announced that this feature will receive a major update. In addition, further innovations are to follow, which could be useful for users.
WhatsApp status should get better
Among other things, WhatsApp plans to integrate the status into the chat list in the future. The user can see the status of the contact by clicking on the profile picture in the chat menu. The story-like function is currently only visible under the “Status” tab on WhatsApp.
First, WhatsApp will probably play the new function on the desktop version. An update for Android and iOS devices is also planned afterwards. WhatsApp probably wants to make the feature more popular and interactive, since it is used comparatively little.
In addition, another extra is to be introduced. Anyone who views a contact’s status can write a message about it. Quick reactions in the form of emojis will soon be possible. Facebook and Instagram have already integrated this into their respective story functions.

These are the other innovations
Messenger has rolled out another update through the Google Play beta program. In Android version 2.22.10.14, a feature appears that allows users to see whether their chats are actually “end-to-end encrypted”. WhatsApp will probably build this into the footer in the chat list. The function is currently visible in the Android beta version, but there is a high probability that this innovation will also come to iOS and the desktop version.
Another update can also be seen in the beta version. As announced by WABetaInfo, group administrators will in future be able to delete a message from any group member. The same applies here: For iOS and the desktop version, the function could be tested in later beta versions.
Last but not least, there is another piece of good news for WhatsApp users. In the future, the Meta subsidiary would like to make it possible to link the account to a second smartphone. Currently it is only possible to use the chat service with a mobile phone. TECHBOOK had already reported on the limitations of using WhatsApp on multiple devices.
It should be mentioned that the above innovations are all in the test phase. It is still unclear when WhatsApp will upload the updates to the devices.
