Slides, a competition pool and a sunbathing lawn… Two years ago we announced that the swimming pool in the van Tuyll Park would open in the summer of 2022 – that is, this summer. Unfortunately, the end of summer is already in sight and the pool is not yet finished. We were curious: what exactly are the plans?

Archictenburuea VenhoevenCS made the design for the new swimming pool that Zoetermeerders have been looking forward to for years. The design was inspired by a Japanese bathhouse. Due to the many skylights and the greenery in the interior, you would always have the feeling of swimming in the open air in this pool. When the weather is really nice, part of the roof could be opened. There would also be competition lanes, slides and a sunbathing area.

on different pages From the website of the municipality of Zoetermeer, we read that the opening of the swimming pool is now planned in the first half of 2023. Construction of the swimming pool started in November 2021. The swimming pool will be natural gas-free and almost energy neutral. Extra attention is also paid to accessibility. Extra cost
At the end of December 2021 it became clear that the swimming pool is such a 2.3 million more expensive is then budgeted. That is, of course, a very significant amount. This large price increase is of course not random. It is a result of the rising prices of building materials. The delivery time of many materials is also a lot longer than before. This is one of the reasons for the delay. In addition, some adjustments had to be made to the design, which also cost extra time.
Tickets remain 6 euros
A ticket for the swimming pool remains – despite the steep price increases – for the time being 6 euros. This has been agreed with the pool operator and will not change. The only way a price increase could come about is through a new council decision.
