‘What will Linda de Mol think of this?’

The TV channel Net5, part of John de Mol’s media empire, is dying. And actually this should have become the playground of his sister Linda. “How does she look back on it?”

It was once the intention that Net5 would become a major TV channel where women in particular feel at home. Linda de Mol was deployed as captain: she was given the keys to the women’s channel in 2019 and, as the de facto channel boss, she recruited Merel Westrik to become the figurehead. We all know how that ended.

Net5 horror scores

The prestige project Ladies Night flopped mercilessly, nobody knows the name of the other programs that were made under the LINDA. flag and Merel’s TV career has been in the crash barrier for years. And Net5? That has now become a gathering place for films, reruns and genres that are hardly viewed linearly anymore.

Rating whisperer Tina Nijkamp is turning her spotlight on Net5’s horror scores today. The station surpassed 100,000 viewers with just one broadcast yesterday, namely with the film rerun How To Lose A Guy In 10 Days. 121 thousand people (3 percent market share) watched it at prime time.

What does Linda think?

It’s really bad, Tina thinks. She calls Net5 a ‘problem channel’. “Actually, nothing scores well. How would Linda de Mol actually think back to her Net5 adventure? It will hurt that the women’s channel has not been successful again. And now to see these kinds of figures every day.”

When Linda left, the label of the LINDA still remained. behind, but that has now also been removed. “The whole Powered by LINDA. seems to have disappeared from the channel since two months.”

Hélène saves SBS 6

SBS 6, the big brother of Net5, is doing well in the summer with the Hélène Hendriks talk show De Oranjezomer at half past nine, but broadcasting reruns at half past eight is currently not catching on. “SBS 6 has been scoring badly all week with their reruns,” writes Tina to her analysis channel.

Most viewers switch on RTL 4 at half past eight, where B&B Vol Love is broadcast. 956 thousand people (23 percent) watched it yesterday.
