At this moment, about two months before the elections, Daphne Deckers does not yet know which party she will vote for. Will it be Omtzigt? Or the VVD? “I’m still waiting for one thing.”
It is no secret that famous Dutch people prefer never to talk about their political preference, because it haunts them forever and it can cost them sympathy among their followers. When stars are asked a question about their voting behavior, they always try to answer it politely.
Voting guides
Daphne Deckers wants to leave during an interview with Wilfred Genee BNR nor does she say what she votes for. She points out that she has one more thing waiting. “Well, I don’t know yet. I think I’m going to fill in some election guides. Voting guides.”
Wilfred: “Then are you really going for that? That’s what I’ve been doing lately, by the way.”
Daphne: “Well, because: I don’t really know anymore. There are a lot of overlaps and everyone shouts a lot at the front that I actually don’t see much of at the back.”
‘That’s politics’
That has always been the case, says Wilfred. “Well, that’s politics.”
Daphne: “That is indeed true. That sums up politics.”
Wilfred: “Yes, I think I had Christian Union last time. Then I filled in for Christian Union in that Provincial Council election.”
Pieter or Caroline
Other celebrities are more open about their voting preference. So says media critic Victor Vlam in his podcast The Communicados: “I am currently considering two parties and those are Pieter Omtzigt and Caroline van der Plas. I really think they are doing a very good job. I was also really impressed by the lecture that Caroline van der Plas gave.”
Caroline is a winner, he thinks. “I think she makes a very good point about our technocratic society. I think one of the real problems of our time, which we are not sufficiently aware of, because it really happens step by step, we have become so f*cking technocratic and that has been to the detriment of our democracy.”
