What to do if there is a flame in the pan? How does living become safer? Demo in de Buurt explains everything on Wednesday 20 April at the Hoofdstraat in Zuidwolde.
The fire brigade then gives demonstrations, there is a so-called safety market and there is a smoke detector campaign.
The latter is especially important, according to a spokesperson for Demo in the area. ‘On 1 July, every house in the Netherlands must have a smoke detector on every floor. Important, because when you sleep your sense of smell is switched off. Most fire victims therefore die from smoke inhalation and not from the fire itself.’
The demo is an initiative of Univé Noord-Nederland and the Drenthe Safety Region.
