What should we do now after a very hard report? ‘The Netherlands has a debt of honor to pay’ | Podcast Aftershocks

The committee’s report is tough. ‘The Netherlands has a debt of honor to pay.’ The interests of Groningen residents have been structurally ignored in gas extraction. Money always trumped safety. The committee calls the situation that has arisen “disastrous.”

In this new episode of the podcast Nashokken, Arnoud Bodde discusses this important day with reporters Johan de Veer and Lyanne Levy. What do the committee’s conclusions mean? What can Groningen do with the recommendations? And what to do now?

They also discuss the presentation of the report. How was the atmosphere at De Diek’n farm in Zeerijp? Groningers who were interrogated during the survey sat at the front of the presentation of the report together with other victims. How was the day for them?

After this episode, Aftershocks will be broadcasted at the Grasnapolsky festival on March 12. Public is welcome. More information about the festival can be found here.

We will return later this year with a final episode about the debate that the House of Representatives will have on the report.
