Have you already hidden the eggs in the garden? Or do you blow them out and then paint them? Will it be a visit to an Easter fire, or the old-fashioned furniture boulevard? Or are you looking for something else? Then you’ve come to the right place! Because there is so much to do in Drenthe during this Easter weekend.
Did you miss The Passion on television? On to Nijeveen Friday evening. From 7.30 pm on the large stage next to the Reformed Church, more than a hundred people from Nijeven will perform this age-old story about Jesus’ last days on earth. Various choirs and music groups, players and two narrators give the whole a contemporary twist. Afterwards there is a procession through the village where ‘Het Kruis’ is the center and windmill ‘De Sterrenberg’ is the end of The Passion Nijeveen. Admission is free, but there is a bus where a voluntary contribution can be made. Seats are available for people with reduced mobility or who cannot stand for long periods of time.
78 years ago, French paratroopers, who had landed in Drenthe during Operation Amherst, blew up a German truck full of ammunition at the Beukenlaantje in Fluitenberg. The French were driven out, but Hoogeveen was liberated a few days later. On Saturday, actors will reenact this attack between 12:00 and 4:00 p.m. opposite Santbrincke on Hoogeveenseweg in Fluitenberg.
Ceramics, sculptures in bronze and stone, metal objects, paintings and photographs. 17 artists and craftsmen will open their doors on Saturday and Sunday during the Art Walk Diever. Between 11 a.m. and 4.30 p.m. you can take a look at the participants’ home, workshop, studio or gallery, where they themselves are at work. Participating locations can be recognized by the colorful beach flag.
