Christmas and pancake lovers can indulge themselves on cast iron stoves. Both elements are combined in the toy museum in Roden. While the children are busy putting the tastiest creations on the table, parents can take a look at the exhibition ‘Tiny Houses, living and working in miniature’.

Oh yes, useful to know: there is special pancake batter for children who cannot eat gluten. The stoves will be lit on Wednesday, December 27 and on Wednesday, January 3 and Sunday, January 7 between 1:00 PM and 4:00 PM.

This walk is approximately one kilometer long. There are all kinds of delicacies that can be tasted during the tour. The route starts and ends at the Roman Catholic Church St. Sillhadus. Participation is free and young and old are welcome.

On Thursday, December 28, the De Duikelaar Underground Museum is organizing a winter walk. In and around Nieuwlande you will pass places that contain beautiful stories.

This year the theme of the walk is: food during the war. During the hour and a half walk you can choose from a hot drink of your choice and afterwards a hot cup of pea soup awaits you. Two walks are organized: from 10:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. and from 11:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. You can secure a spot by emailing [email protected]

The Youth Club Papparazo in Oosterhesselen is going all out again this year and is organizing its own Top 2000 café from 28 to 30 December. The music boxes play the hits of the Top 2000 and there is a wide choice of drinks. The club’s board sees the activity as a kind of open house. Anyone who wants to take a look is very welcome. The café is open from 7:00 PM to 1:00 AM. The youth center can be found at Kockstraat 48.

On Thursday, December 28, there is also plenty to do in the Prison Museum in Veenhuizen. In the courtyard, visitors go back in time about 200 years, and you can see with your own eyes what the daily lives of vagrants, beggars and orphans, the original inhabitants of Veenhuizen, were like.
