Resident Evil returns to Netflix with a new series received by critics, as is now tradition for the brand, in a fluctuating way.
The Resident Evil Netflix series is available today, and fans of the horror franchise have presumably flocked to the streaming platform to watch it or at least find out what it is like. As often happens in these cases, the critics have been able to attend at least a part of the series in order to provide the viewers with the first opinions, and apparently these have not reached a unanimous reception.
Bad reviews for Resident Evil… –
On Rotten Tomatoes, the aggregator of film and series reviews, Resident Evil earned a critical rating average of 59/100, just one point below pass, from a total of 17 reviews. Not particularly exciting, and besides, “this zombie serial could still use a little more brain”, although it is acknowledged that “Resident Evil comes closest to honoring previous adaptations the beloved and labyrinthine lore of video games ”. As often happens, the fans have not been so generous: 19 users, at the time of writing, have condemned the Netflix series to just 37/100.
… but one is positive –
Curiously though, GameSpot – renowned gaming critic site – spoke of the Netflix series in very positive terms. “Easily the best adaptation of the zombie franchise ever,” reads the title of the 9 out of 10 review. “Telling two separate stories for 14 years works surprisingly well,” and “new characters are excellent introductions to this horrible world.” In addition, “video games are used as the background of the story”, which “has to do with the world of Resident Evil,” according to the portal. Another good news for Capcom, at least, on the day when the Japanese software house that created the saga celebrates the 10 million copies sold by the Resident Evil 2 remake.
