It’s something you may never have heard of. It’s also because illegal quantities are very high for most citizens but the truth is that there is a limit amount of cash to carry on the street legally.
The amount of cash that a person can carry if it has a limit established in Law 10/2010, of April 28for the prevention of money laundering and the financing of terrorism, which is what sets the maximum amount.
The money limit can carry in cash within Spain is 100,000 euros. To move an equal or higher amount, certain legal procedures must be fulfilled to declare it. If you also wanted to enter or leave the country with that amount, the limit is 10,000 euros.
To pay in cash there is also a limit in order to deal with fraud. The new regulations in force have lowered this amount to 1,000 euros. Thus, Law 11/2021, of July 9, details that to acquire a product or service with a value greater than this figure, another means of payment must be used, such as a credit card or transfer.
