Antares was the beer chosen to represent the country in the Firestone Walker Beer Festival, a camaraderie and cult event that brings together the world’s most prestigious independent craft breweries. The festival is accessible only by invitation and is organized by the prestigious American brewery Firestone Walker in Paso Robles, California.
The craft beer explosion was sparked by pioneers on the American scene in the late 1970s and early 1980s. In those years, young North American brewers kicked the sack and began brewing “niche” and cutting-edge beers. In 1996, the Firestone Walker brand was born, as a direct heir to this disruptive movement and upholding the legacy of quality craft beer. Even the same Californian brand was chosen four times as the best brewery in the world in the World Beer Cupone of the most important industry awards worldwide.
The trajectory of this North American brewery became an emblem regarding independence, quality, camaraderie and experimentation, and inspired various ventures in the field. In this regard, both Antares and other Argentine craft breweries undertook a similar journey to their American counterpart more than two decades ago.
The 2023 edition of the Firestone Walker festival will take place on June 3 and the Mar del Plata brewery was the only guest from the country to this event for the second consecutive year, along with other craft breweries from around the world. The event promotes innovation in flavor, as well as sharing and competing for the best creations of the different versions of the legendary alcoholic beverage.
“We know that it is not only an individual recognition of our beers and that this also speaks of how the Argentine craft beer scene is recognized worldwide for its importance and the passion that independent brewers put into it to make it grow every day. To celebrate this unique moment we made a “gala” selection of beers de Antares that we want to share at the Firestone Walker Invitational Beer Festival”, they describe from the Buenos Aires brewery.
In this regard, the brewery from “The Happy City” will celebrate its quarter century by introducing new flavors at the event. Among the innovative tastes is the Season, Matured for three years in oak barrels, it stands out for its aromas and flavors of fresh fruits (melon, white grapes, apricots) and more intense notes such as vanilla and leather. Another premiere is also added, the fragariainspired by the Mar del Plata summer, which will be presented together with the classic Berliner Weisse that has strawberries and raspberries Sierra de los Padres. At the other extreme of flavor, the strongest beer debuts: titanicwith its 20 degrees of alcohol inspired by a blend of conco belgian quads passing through different oak barrels. According to its creators, the taste result is similar to an intense liquor, very complex, fruity, with notes of caramel.
“Finally, we are going to take our beer that is inspired by spring and alludes to a great bike ride that takes place every year in Mar del Plata for charity: Caravana Session IPA with very little alcohol, but a strong aroma of North American floral and citrus hops. A fresh beer with which we celebrate the arrival of the flower season”, they conclude, anticipating, from Antares for the beer event on the first weekend of June.
