what is it, why there is no cure, history of patients -iO Donna

PTo get better, I tried to make friends with her, mine chronic disease. We almost became friends and it’s a surprising way forward: I feel with all my heart that we live in the same body and being so close is an experience of friendship that brings harmony to my reality.

Chronic disease: there is no cure yet

I suffer from one chronic bronchial disease. He has a strange and difficult name that no one knows or remembers, an angular name that everyone misses.

After the diagnosis, I had to accept the verdict: it’s a chronic disease that to this day it still has no cure. And I had to familiarize myself with this “forever” welcoming it as a promise that comes galloping on a white horse or as a diamond that keeps its brilliant purity intact over the centuries.

Life changes suddenly

Life slowly changed long before we received that word that defines the condition; with the cough, wheezing, chest painsthen again cough phlegm, le bronchitis, pneumonia and so on for many years. The moment of introductions between us was not enough for mutual knowledge. We had to hang out for a while – quite a bit – to get to know more about each other.

Pneumonia: how to recognize it, treatments and the importance of prevention

My chronic disease, almost girlfriends

I understood that without the help of those who study it I would not be able to know it as much as I learned to do by listening to the voices of the doctors, in hospitals, in clinics and through all the associative and support realities. Instead, she is not interested in studying me, it is enough for her to live in me. And for this accommodation I asked her for a fee, the right one, to make things balanced. She is a full-fledged tenant, duly registered.

Since I was baptized, my illness has taken a lot of work and created an empty space of its own in me. I left her free to give me suggestions and ideas and I respected her nature, and protecting myself from the most harmful risks that her way of life causes, I asked her to speak to me.

The ongoing compromises when you have a chronic disease

Initially I was on my own, and our dialogue was a bit formal, communications were quick and of service: -if you do that thing I won’t bother you; ok okay I’ll do it but you don’t have to widen yourself too much -. In short a close relationship, as it is appropriate to have in the condominium. Without the obligation to get in confidence or to go to the condominium meetings.

In the mirror with chronic disease

But when I had the courage to open the door and let her in, we sat in front of a hot tea and chatted for a long time. He had to tell me that I’m not that bad and that they are a pleasant, warm and reassuring home. She was silent for a long time and when he’s silent I’m fine, I never cough.

Don’t give up on yourself and pleasures

Then she told me that she likes to be silent, that she loves to sleep and loves being quiet, at peace in her laziness, she does it willingly. He begged me to do what I like best toobecause in those moments she feels calm and asleep as in a wonderful lethargy. Then I started writing. When I write, I tell about my life, when she wasn’t there and when she arrived. Above all, I can’t forget that if she hadn’t done it, no one would have knocked on my door to remind me to do that precise thing that I love so much and that makes me feel more alive than ever.
