There was a time when chef Herman den Blijker could not keep his eyes off the TV. Herman Helps, Herman Finds Chef, Herman Does This, Herman Does That… But where is Herman now?
Nowadays Erland Galjaard, who is reportedly in a marital crisis with Wendy van Dijk, no longer plays any role in the television world, but for years he was the man who called the shots. Some people owe their TV careers purely and solely to him, including the eternal Ronald Molendijk.
Herman from the tube?
Herman den Blijker also came on television purely and solely thanks to Erland. It all started in 2005: the number of TV titles that Herman has presented since then is truly enormous. In fact, you could assume that every TV season there would be one or more programs featuring him. But at some point the viewer knew…
After Erland’s transfer from RTL to Talpa, Herman decided to follow him at the beginning of 2020, but the fourth year of his contract is now almost expiring and a contract extension seems very unlikely as Erland has retired from the television business. And that would mean that Herman would lose his very lucrative TV income after twenty years.
Number one
Viewing authority Tina Nijkamp has now put Herman at the top of her list of presenters under contract with the fewest recording days. In other words: presenters who become rich overnight because they do virtually nothing for the tons of money they receive, but for that reason run the risk that their contract will no longer be extended.
And that list is headed by Herman. “Herman’s four-year contract with Talpa expires on January 1. He only presented three (!) shows in those four years,” she emphasizes analysis channel.
Not enough
Of course, just three programs that were not a success does not in any way justify a new TV contract. The chance that we will see Herman disappear from the TV is therefore very high. The consolation prize? Wendy is considering having Christmas dinner with her entire family at Herman’s restaurant. Hopefully he can get her some expensive bottles of wine.
