‘What if Ahoy isn’t full?’

André Hazes jr. hoped to sell out his comeback concert within an hour (!), but two and a half months later, tickets are still peddling. What now?

During his trips to America, André Hazes Jr. regularly visits concerts to gain inspiration and to mirror himself with the greats of the earth. He also wants to be a world star himself, but can’t even get the Ahoy sold out in our frog country. The problem? André’s fans love the folksy genre, but he no longer wants to sing that.

Not hot anymore

Now that the concert has not yet been sold out after two and a half months, André has only recorded a video in which he shouts that he will also sing folk songs during that concert. But how credible is that if he has called his old repertoire on television ‘old time music’? “It doesn’t suit me at all. That’s not who I am.”

Very nice that André now makes music that makes him happy, but that is of course a fairly small target group for someone who wants to sell out concerts. His new pop songs don’t even make it to the bottom regions of the Top 40. André still does hot, at least as a media figure? It seems not…

Yay Hazes

André was in the yesterday talk show by Renze Klamer and something like that hardly causes anything anymore. It’s all a repetition of moves. ‘My new music is who I really am’, ‘if I keep singing my old repertoire I will go back to drugs’, ‘I would like my family quarrel to be resolved, but now is not the time’… Gááp…

The most important Hazes topic is currently his Ahoy concert, which is not filling up. Renze wonders whether this musical turnaround is a success. “Are you going to keep that up? Because I know, don’t you, Ahoy is of course a big tent, it still has to be filled up… Suppose it is not yet half full, do you think: I will keep doing this?”

‘I persevere’

Yes, André replies. “Yes… Well, I don’t think so, I’m sure. Look, before I entered that clinic I actually only did things that other people expected of me and I completely outdid myself and I will never make that mistake again.”

He continues: “I have really taken my time lately: what ensures that I no longer relapse, no longer reach for the bottle and no longer take drugs? It all boiled down to: listen to yourself. And that’s what I’m doing now. And if Ahoy is half full as a result, then I will make the best evening there is with them, you know.”

juice channels

André has now released a new pop song in which he sings: ‘Everything I do seems wrong anyway’. This also applies to the current media culture. “You get used to it, but I do realize very well what kind of time we live in or something. How the media works now, how clickbait works, we’re dealing with juice channelsyou know.”

“It is a very different time than, say, two years ago before I entered that clinic,” he continues. Fortunately, the juice is now gone, says André. “Yes, everyone has fallen over, so there is not much left.”

Lawsuits

It is also about Roxeanne and whether she will perform again next year at Holland Zingt Hazes: “We would love it if she wanted to, but she has chosen not to do it anymore. Only the doors will always be open to her, yes. Yeah right. It’s not that we sent her away. She didn’t want to participate anymore.”

And about a possible reconciliation between Rox and mother Rachel: “Emotions are too high, lawsuits are being held and I think that makes no sense now.”

Is André revealing between the nose and lips that Rox and Rachel did indeed not settle their business dispute amicably? According to Yvonne Coldeweijer, it is in any case the calm before the storm and Rox will soon appear on the scene on her Hazes wrecking ball…
