Hertha coach Pal Dardai described the 2-1 defeat against FC St. Pauli as “a lesson” for himself and his players.

“Where is the team? How do we deal with such a backdrop?” are questions to which the Hungarian has had answers since the floodlit game on Saturday evening in front of 66,113 fans.

The 47-year-old therefore classified the defeat in the 2nd Bundesliga in the “step forward” category.

Dardai: “We didn’t know the situation”

“Because we didn’t know the situation. You have to keep up the pace against an opponent like that and we missed that in the first half. At some point we realized that we needed more physical effort, more passion,” Dardai continued, praising his team’s development process within the 90 minutes.

Despite a wasted first half, he didn’t really blame his team.

“Two wins out of three games is ok. We don’t have to talk about promotion after two wins. We are still in this year of building something,” Dardai said.
