Only four days of work with full pay! After a pilot project in Great Britain, more than four out of five of the companies involved want to stick to the concept!
After the end of the test phase, 56 of 61 employers said they wanted to keep the four-day week. This is the result of an analysis by researchers published on Tuesday.
Accordingly, the average turnover of the companies involved increased by 1.4 percent during the test phase. According to the study, sick days fell by 65 percent during the test period.
Is that also possible in Germany?
Companies in the textile industry and crafts are already there
The German clothing manufacturer Gerry Weber also lets the employees decide whether they work four or five days a week work want.
At the textile giant, “work as much as you want” follows the principle of “work when you want”, which has been in effect for ten years and leaves it up to the employees when they start in the morning.
The head of Gerry Weber, Angelika Schindler-Obenhaus, told BILD that the model is worthwhile for companies and employees – they have “needs that can change, depending on their life situation”.
At construction engineer Sebastian Hunger, too, the craftsmen in the company always wish each other a nice weekend on Thursdays.
