Matthijs van Nieuwkerk has been completely replaced by Patrick Lodiers in his television quiz The Connection. The fallen TV god’s program has been hijacked: what does he think about that?
It is particularly painful for Matthijs van Nieuwkerk. After his departure from BNNVARA, the broadcaster effortlessly found a replacement for almost all its programs. Astrid Joosten took over the Scientific Annual Review, the Top 2000 a gogo continued with Herman van der Zandt and Patrick Lodiers took over the quiz The Connection.
Patrick texts Matthijs
How does Matthijs look at someone like Patrick? Like an ordinary body snatcher? And how does he actually see that? Patrick gives in The Telegraph admits that he had some doubts when he was asked in December. “It was quite a hectic time. But after a few days of thinking, I thought: it’s a nice quiz, so why not?”
Patrick did contact Matthijs. “I sent him a text with the text: ‘I understand that you have other things on your mind at the moment, but I would like to hear if you have any tips for me.’ He then replied: ‘I know you will do a great job of this’.”
DWDD fuss
What does Patrick actually think of all the fuss about Matthijs and DWDD? “Just as Matthijs did not give me any tips on how to take over his program, I am not going to tell him how to deal with his situation. He knows that best himself.”
The presentation of De Slimste Mens will also be released. Does Patrick want to take that as well? No. “Herman van der Zandt is much funnier.”
