Yvonne Coldeweijer has sometimes jokingly called Angela de Jong her showbiz mother, but what does she actually think of the juice queen? “I find her fascinating.”
It is undeniable that they are among the most influential women in Dutch showbiz: Angela de Jong and Yvonne Coldeweijer. They are both star hitters, but on a different stage. “I think a lot of people see her as a superficial gossip, but in reality she is a powerful media aunt,” says Angela at AD Play.
Fascinating Yvonne
What does Angela think of Yvonne? “I find her fascinating. She actually showed all the players there – the tabloids, RTL Boulevard, Shownieuws – every corner of the room, because all the important news in recent years comes from her. You can think what you think about that, but it is very clever.”
According to the AD opinion diva, it is not surprising that the juice hyena has grown so large. “You had the existing channels, which were the gossip magazines and the gossip columns on television, and they actually became more and more boyfriend columns. Yes, then there is often a bit of give and take: what do I bring and do I antagonize such a star?”
Big victory moment
RTL Boulevard and Shownieuws bowed far too much to the stars of our country. “You often saw in the gossip columns that the answer was ultimately: we just don’t do it or we keep it under wraps. And those juice channels are not that bothered by that and they pop everything out.”
Yvonne is now an established name. “Yvonne Coldeweijer’s great moment of victory? That was the weekend that Glennis Grace had beaten the Jumbo to pieces and ended up in a police station and that video of Jaimie Vaes and Lil Kleine was leaked. And both of those things came out through Yvonne Coldeweijer.”
Genuine pain
Many celebrities hate Yvonne, including Douwe Bob. Angela was on a talk show when he was confronted with Yvonne’s name. “He was genuinely in pain when he heard that name. I think she can really make the lives of a number of celebrities quite miserable.”
But, Angela concludes: “It always starts with the behavior of the star himself. If you have nothing to hide, you don’t have to be afraid of those juice channels. If there is something, and it conflicts with the picture you show to the outside world, then you can wait for it to come out at some point…”
