What do you think: The Dutch are smart enough to keep corona under control themselves

Instead of the tight hand from above, the Dutch will now have to take measures themselves to ensure that they do not infect themselves and each other. Personal responsibility will be the common thread of the long-term policy against corona, writes The Telegraph based on Hague sources. The policy is likely to be presented next week.

Ventilating, wearing face masks where necessary, and perhaps not all huddled together in the pub in winter: the cabinet hopes that the Netherlands will be wise enough to think of this for itself. Companies are also expected to protect their staff: that means that people should not be forced to show up in the event of complaints or illness, something that often happened ‘pre-corona’, according to the newspaper.

Testing for corona will also become the responsibility of the citizen, which can be done either via the well-known self-tests, but The Hague is also looking at the possibility of having this done by general practitioners. The cabinet also wants to monitor the spread of the virus and the emergence of new variants in a different way, for example through sewage surveillance.

What do you think?

Good idea after all those measures of the past two years or do you have little faith in this?
