Dennis Wiersma, the Minister for Primary and Secondary Education, believes that the choice to send a pupil to VMBO, VWO or HAVO is too early. He said this in an interview with Algemeen Dagblad.
Currently, the final test in group 8, together with a recommendation from the school, determines the choice of school. According to experts, this can lead to unequal educational opportunities. “The inequality of opportunity that we are seeing now really pisses me off,” says Wiersma. He expects to be able to tell more about the plans in the autumn.
