Energy companies warn customers who pay too low a monthly amount for their energy bill. Due to the enormously increased gas and electricity prices, many customers are in danger of having to pay a substantial extra on this year’s final bill if they do not adjust the installment amount.
Energy prices have been rising since May last year, but that development has accelerated due to the Russian invasion of Ukraine. And since fewer and fewer Dutch people have a fixed energy contract, usually with much lower prices, large groups will have to deal with the new, much higher prices.
Energy company Vattenfall still speaks of a slight increase in payment problems, but expects that more people will only really get into trouble this autumn.
