JA21 wants the extra income that the state receives as a result of this to return to the middle class as soon as possible. A majority of the House of Representatives is in favor of this plan, writes De Telegraaf.
Minister Kaag (of Finance) is against the proposal. She believes that the government should use windfall gains to repay the national debt. In the event of an economic downturn, the government does not immediately have to increase the costs.
